Tourism in Oisans

Come and discover Oisans, its many sightseeing itineraries and Les Ecrins National Park, a wild, unspoilt place for all nature-lovers. With nature walks, cultural tours, lake and river fishing and mountain picnics, there are plenty of opportunities for a breath of fresh air.

As you travel around the region, you will discover many cultural and natural sites, spectacular panoramic viewpoints, artists and craftspeople (lute-making, mosaics, stained glass, wool work). The Mineral Museum, the "Mountaineering Memories" Museum, the Lignarre Valley where galena and slate were once extracted, Brandes Silver Mine (an archaeological site that is unique in Europe), and mountain refuges open to all for a wonderful change of scene.

The Alpe d'Huez, boasting the longest ski piste in the world, can also be explored in summer, with its lakes and many peaks. It is reached via the legendary "montée de l'Alpe", an uphill route prized by cyclists from all over the world. Be dazzled by the fabulous panoramic views to be admired from the Pic Blanc at 3,300m in altitude.

Carrying on uphill along the Sarenne Pass, discover the Emparis Plateau. Take a stroll around the many pretty, rustic villages that are typical of the area: Clavans en Haut Oisans, Besse en Oisans, Mizoën, Huez en Oisans, Villard Reculas, etc.

The eternal snow of the 2 Alpes glaciers awaits you at 3,400 m in altitude. It can be reached by funicular railway, and strange ice sculptures can be seen in the ice cave there.

There are many places where you can see the local wildlife and plants, as well as the region’s culinary specialities: restaurants, farms, goat farms, cheese dairies and local markets.
